THE DESCENDANTS OF NEWTON ASHBY

SUIA

ALL descendancy charts follow the surname only and exclude people born within the last hundred years.

• Linked names will take you to the chart for that surname, with the focused person at the top of the page...

Unless the linked name is at the top of the tree, in which case, you'll land back on the chart of direct ancestors.

• Hovering over a name, date or event should reveal brief source information.

I'VE added a couple of trees to this page, in grey because I'm not sure how—or even if—they connect to our Ashbys. The first contains the only baptism of roughly the right date I could find for a Newton Ashby. Buckinghamshire is not London, though, and there's nothing yet to suggest that the earlier family moved to the city. The second greyed addition is for a Newton Ashby, carpenter, who married twice and worked north and south of the river. If he is "our" Newton Ashby, he should be a widower when he marries Jane. Instead, the parish entry gives his status as bachelor. I did find a burial entry for an Elizabeth Ashby in St Botolph's, Aldgate, 29th April 1791. The date would allow Newton to marry again in 1792, as the carpenter does. But with no age given for the deceased Elizabeth, plus the "bachelor" carpenter, it's too big a leap for now. I've put the three contemporary Newtons in green, so it's clearer what the tree would look like if they are indeed one and the same person.
